A friend that I work with recently got busted going 109 mph on his 1100 Kawasaki sport bike. This wasn't his first speeding ticket, and he was in a position to lose his license, not to mention the fine & insurance whack.
When his day in court came up he (and his lawyer) begged the mercy of the court, presented the judge with sales receipts from the local dealer that showed he not only got rid of the Kawasaki but a 650 Suzuki dual sport as well! The judge was so impressed by his "sacrifice" that he lowered the charges to what they would be at 79mph. (he kept his license at this).
Friend walked out of the courtroom and went back to the bike dealer and picked up the new 2000 V-Max that he had traded the other two bikes towards. Just had the dealer put the paperwork on separate sheets.
